I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years of experience with children, adults and families. I believe a positive therapeutic relationship is essential for successful therapy and it is from this safe connection that I help infants, children and adults move toward greater well-being and increased inner peace.
Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist
Yes, infants and very young children have mental health! Children, especially newborns to 3, develop socially and emotionally in relationship with their caregivers. With you and your little one present, I can help you better understand your infant or young child’s behaviors, identify issues that are causing distress for your child and/or you in the context of parenting and together we can support your young child's healthy social-emotional development and increase the connection and joy between the two of you.
Children
I have a love and appreciation for the healing powers of play! As a Play Therapist, I provide a warm, nurturing, and safe environment for children to explore their internal world, express themselves, better understand themselves, identify challenges and seek solutions. Therapeutic play can also help children learn new coping skills to manage stress of daily life, provide a corrective emotional experience necessary for healing and increase self esteem. With parents or caregivers as a part of the child's therapy process, I better understand the child, assess how they are functioning outside of therapy and identify what steps are needed to increase well-being. I regularly offer parents new ideas and parenting techniques to help parents better meet their child’s needs.
Adults
I am also passionate about working with adults. Experience renews my belief again and again that, despite how hard it may be to believe, we all have a deep inner wisdom that can lead each of us to greater health. As a therapist, it is my job to help clients connect with that wisdom. My clients are curious and self-reflective, but have experienced things that leave them feeling stuck, frustrated, angry, confused, depressed or anxious. Together we get curious, stay grounded in self compassion and deepen self awareness leading to greater well-being. My main modality used in this process is Internal Family Systems (IFS).
